I have an iPhone, and as a former Android guy, finding ways around its restrictions has been an adventure. Put all your music on it in folders, put your videos on it, and you can even share with others. It puts you on par, functionality-wise, with Android users. It's a file manager with WiFi sharing, and it can also play music and videos. If that's the case, you should know about Documents by Readdle. With Android you have a lot of options, but I get the feeling you're using an iPhone and you think Spotify is your best alternative to iTunes. Shouldn't eat through the hotspot phone's data plan, but it will hit the battery pretty hard.įor someone facing these restrictions, using Spotify exclusively for music isn't recommended. If the computer has WiFi built in (most laptops do, most desktops don't, but adapters are surprisingly cheap), a second phone can hotspot and both computer and phone can join it. The desktop app doesn't want to transmit the files over the open Internet for whatever reason - WiFi only. I'm pretty sure that being on the same WiFi network is required, though I don't know why.
